Dwell exists to employ refugees in the community of Clarkston, Georgia. And through the service of cleaning, we employ people who have come here from all over the world, looking to rebuild a better life for themselves and their families.
We launched Dwell in February 2012 because there was a need in Clarkston for local and good paying work. We especially saw a need to employ women, who in so many cultures are the primary caregivers of children and are also responsible for taking care of the home. Add to those responsibilities, the need for women to be employed so the family can afford to have a place to live, eat and have transportation it becomes even more important for employment options to be local, flexible and to demonstrate value for each person in the workplace.
As with any compelling business story, Dwell started in our garage. Using our van, my boys and I would drive Norah, Dwell’s first employee, to the homes of our first three customers. Norah would clean for the day and I and my boys would pick her up at the end of the day. Over time, Dwell added more customers and hired more refugees.
Dwell currently employs eighteen people from eight countries and cleans thousands of times a year in and around the Decatur, Georgia area.
We appreciate your interest in Dwell and the Clarkston community!
